The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery

(Aquila Polonica, 2012)

By Witold Pilecki, translated by Jarek Garlinski
Historian Timothy Snyder, Yale University, in conversation with Museum Director Dr. David G. Marwell

In November 1940, Polish officer Witold Pilecki deliberately had himself arrested and sent to Auschwitz. While imprisoned in the camp he smuggled out a series of reports describing the conditions. This fascinating account is now available in English for the first time.

This documentary traces the story of how the Egon Schiele painting looted by the Nazis took center stage in a restitution struggle involving the U.S. government, one of Austria's leading art collectors, and some of the world's most prominent museums.

In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, join award-winning performer Natalie Douglas and friends for an uplifting concert of Civil Rights songs by Nina Simone, Pete Seeger, Paul McCartney, and Lena Horne, including Horne's anthem"Now," which she sang to the tune of "Hava Nagila."

Loosen your Borscht Belts for an evening of belly laughs inspired by the joyous—and oft-parodied—"Hava Nagila."

With editors Nancy R. Goodman and Marilyn B. Meyers

A panel of psychologists, artists, and survivors discuss how the trauma of the Holocaust is processed by survivors, their children, and those who help them heal.

Transfigured Night with the Merlin Ensemble Vienna
