Upcoming Events Annual Gathering of Remembrance Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 3 p.m. Congregation Emanu-El of the City of New York Every year, Jews mark the anniversary of the death of loved ones, fulfilling a sacred obligation to remember. For many of the six million who were murdered during the Holocaust, no one knows when that anniversary falls. To mourn them and to commemorate the loss of all who perished, a special day has been set aside--Yom HaShoah--a day when the entire community gathers to remember and reflect. Tickets are complimentary to the public with a suggested donation. Tickets must be reserved in advance and cannot be purchased at the door. To reserve your ticket and join us for this special commemoration ceremony click HERE. Year after year the Young Friends play a major role in facilitating the day’s event by recruiting volunteers to assist with various tasks and responsibilities at the Annual Gathering, including escorting survivors to light memorial candles on stage, ushering, and helping with security or check-in. Volunteering at the Annual Gathering of Remembrance is a meaningful experience and demonstrates to the survivors that our generation will never forget. If you are interested in volunteering at the Annual Gathering contact Rachel Weiss at rweiss@mjhnyc.org or 646-437-4321.
