What does it mean to be a third- or fourth-generation survivor? Is trauma transmitted through epigenetics, or inherited along with family stories and heirlooms? Tablet Magazine Deputy Editor Stephanie Butnick, co-host of the leading Jewish podcast Unorthodox, and Brooklyn-based filmmaker Ben Cohen discuss these questions and more in the latest episode in this program series.

Cohen’s grandmother is a Holocaust survivor who participated as a witness in the last trials of former Nazi concentration camp guards, culminating in a conviction in July 2020. Cohen has attended the trials for years and dedicated his work to telling her story.
