Museum members are invited to an exclusive program with Sara Softness, curator of Boris Lurie: Nothing To Do But To Try, and Elizabeth Miseo, Collections Manager and Registrar at the Boris Lurie Art Foundation.
Sara and Elizabeth will take us behind the scenes for a closer look at Boris Lurie’s personal archive and objects—many of which are on view for the first time in the exhibition. Together, we will explore the Foundation’s process of preserving and mining the archive to create this first-of-its-kind exhibition on the Holocaust survivor and avant-garde artist.
“Nothing to do but to try” are words from Lurie’s own memoir, exemplifying the eternal quests of his life and his art: to survive as the ultimate act of creation, and to create as the ultimate act of survival.
To attend, join as a member or email membership@mjhnyc.org for more information. This is a virtual program.
