Join us as we take a guided live walk around Jewish Whitechapel, the old Jewish quarter of London. This tour will give an overview of the history of Jewish immigration to Britain, and an insight into why this area attracted so many different immigrant groups over the years. This area was the center of the London Jewish community during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Our tour guide, Sam, will tell us stories of Rags to Riches and of Prime Ministers to Paupers, as his own family has its Jewish roots in this area of London. We will see the famous Bevis Marks Synagogue, as well as surprises along the streets and byways of the Jewish East End, many of which have hardly changed since the 19th century. Don’t miss the chance to learn all about the history of Jewish life in London and what it is like today. Co-presented with Wowzitude.
As part of a special initiative, our Virtual Walking Tours in November will be free of charge and open to all.
