Over the summer, participants in the High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP) at the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust work in different departmental rotations and also lead tours. This gives us a chance to learn the different types of work each department does while also gaining a variety of work experience.

Last week I was assigned to work in the Communications department. In this department, Apprentices are given some creative projects to help spread the word about HSAP and other work done at the Museum, as well as some smaller administrative tasks, such as gathering Museum materials to hand out at Museum events. I was given a lot of freedom when working on the creative projects, which was great but meant that I needed to manage my time effectively.

My favorite project was taking pictures that captured the essence of the HSAP program for use on the Museum’s Instagram account. These pictures could be of anything, from pictures of Apprentices having lunch to artifacts within the Museum. Take a look through the slideshow below to see these photos and get a sense of what my week in Communications was like.
