It was a beautiful Sunday, almost spring day …

With this beginning, Maritza Shelley invites the audience into her eyewitness account of March 19, 1944, the day Germany occupied Hungary.

Maritza spoke at our Stories Survive Speaker Series earlier in January about her experiences during the Holocaust. Born in 1928 in Budapest, Hungary, she and her sister were selected to do forced labor after Nazis occupied Hungary.

The Museum’s Stories Survive Speaker Series takes place monthly, usually on the first Sunday. Hear from a Holocaust survivor, liberator, or descendant of a Holocaust survivor. Find upcoming Speaker Series events, and other Museum programs, at mjhnyc.org/events.

We look forward to seeing you at the Museum.
