The Museum of Jewish Heritage is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Educational Outreach to join its Education Department. This key leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all educational outreach initiatives aimed at increasing tour group visitation and deepening the impact of the Museum’s educational offerings. Working closely with a dedicated outreach team, the Director serves as a primary liaison to schools, community organizations, adult groups, and corporate partners. This position plays a critical role in bringing diverse audiences to the Museum for meaningful learning experiences, while working cross-departmentally to enhance visitor engagement and meet institutional goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive outreach strategy to increase school group attendance, ensuring alignment with grant requirements and Museum objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Speakers Bureau program, including relationship management with Holocaust survivors and their descendants, as well as scheduling, budgeting, and outreach coordination
  • Develop and manage an outreach strategy focused on attracting adult (18+) tour groups. Oversee all communications, scheduling, visitor experience, and on-site engagement for these audiences.
  • Work in close partnership with the Director of Visitor Services and other Museum departments to maximize tour group attendance and enhance the overall visitor experience.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to coordinate visits from VIP guests, elected officials, and dignitaries, ensuring a thoughtful and mission-aligned experience.
  • Partner with the Development team to build a corporate outreach plan that supports increased corporate visitation and partnership opportunities.
  • Plan and implement large-scale outreach events such as CUNY Day and Borough Days, designed to broaden access and engage diverse communities.
  • Represent the Museum at education and outreach conferences, professional networks, and community events to promote programs and build new partnerships.
  • Measure the success of outreach initiatives using feedback, surveys, and data analysis. Use insights to refine strategies and improve outreach effectiveness.
  • Contribute to grant-related documentation and reporting related to educational initiatives
  • Provide support for group tours and VIP visits, assist with entry logistics for tour groups, and contribute to departmental administrative tasks and cross-functional initiatives as needed

 Requirements:  

  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline (Education, Judaic Studies, History, Holocaust Education)
  • Minimum 5+ years of recent experience in education, museum education or a related field required
  • Work experience in a public-serving cultural institution preferred
  • Excellent organization, planning, and administrative skills; able to prioritize and coordinate multiple activities and meet deadlines
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills; strength in relationship building and teamwork
  • Must have working knowledge of the MS office products and other related applications and CRMs

Position Details:

  • Reports to the Vice President of Education and Visitor Services
  • Supervises: Assoc. Manager, School Outreach; Manager, Speakers Bureau
  • Salary compensation range $80,000-$95,000 with generous benefits
  • The successful candidate should anticipate to work onsite Sunday -Thursday. (Limited hybrid arrangements will be considered after 90-day onboarding)
