Founded by Thracian tribes in the foothills of Vitosha Mountain, the Bulgarian capital of Sofia is a destination steeped in the long and extraordinary history of the Bulgarian Jewish community. There has been a Jewish community here for almost 2000 years.

Join the Museum and Our Travel Circle on this walking tour where we will follow Jewish heritage from the days of the Roman Empire, through the Inquisition and the Holocaust, to the present day. We will visit different locations related to the history of the Bulgarian Jewish community including the Sofia Synagogue, Sofia covered market hall, a former Jewish printing house and more.

Please note: The Museum’s virtual walking tours are live-only events and will not be available to watch after the event is over. Also, event times are in Eastern time; use this time zone converter to see what time it will be in the city being toured.
