Join the Museum and Our Travel Circle as we virtually explore the ninth district of Vienna – Alsergrund- which had the highest percentage of Jewish residents in the city. Alsergrund became a home for middle-class and professional Jews, and a high percentage of Jewish doctors, lawyers, and businessmen made their homes there. The district was also a place where some went specifically to assimilate further into non-Jewish Austrian society and culture. Alsergrund is associated with many notable names of Viennese art and science, and we will see what the former residence and office of Sigmund Freud has become. We will also visit Vienna’s oldest preserved Jewish cemetery, with an incredible story. Come hear this story and more from our guide, Claudia.

Please note: The Museum’s virtual walking tours are live-only events and will not be available to watch after the event is over. Also, event times are in Eastern time; use this time zone converter to see what time it will be in the city being toured.
