Permanent installation. James Carpenter, MacArthur Fellow and architectural artist, created Reflection Passage to provide visitors with a thoughtful and inspiring experience as they move through the Museum.

Reflection Passage relies upon changes in the natural world to complete the artistic process. Its glass surface captures New York Harbor’s ephemeral qualities of light and water and re-presents them inside a main passageway of the Museum, creating an ever-changing reflection in real time.

Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark

The Museum's first exhibition for children ages 9 and up and their families. The exhibition brings the lessons of the Holocaust to life through the remarkable story of Danish resistance during World War II. Despite the enormous risk, these ordinary citizens united against Nazism to save nearly 95% of Denmark's Jewish population.

Gerda III at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut

Built in 1928 for the Danish Lighthouse and Buoy Service, the Gerda III was a fishing boat that was used by the Danish Resistance to to save Jewish lives during World War II by taking Jews and others across the sound to Sweden. Gerda III was donated to the Museum by an act of Danish Parliament and is now part of the Museum’s Collection on view at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut.
