Anna Bernat was from Tarnuv, Poland. She was in Auschwitz for the second half of World War II and was liberated there at the end of the war.

Her father, mother, and brother were murdered in the town square of Tarnuv and buried in a mass grave in the Jewish cemetery there. She and her sister, Sally, were the only survivors of her immediate family.

When looking for friends and family after the war, she finally was able to be connected to her future husband, David, who survived.

Anna Bernat passed away March 19, 2020, at the age of 96.
