Julio Botton was born on August 28, 1928 in Salonika, Greece. During World War II, he was in Bergen Belsen with his family.

After surviving, he went to university in France. His family moved to Mexico City.

In 1963 he married Dolly Haim, another Greek survivor, and they went on to have two daughters, Melina and Aliki, and two grandsons, Enrique and Alejandro Elias.

Julio died on March 13, 2021. He is remembered as being full of life.
