Yitzchak Menachem, or Emanuel Fried, z”l, was born in Hajdúböszörmény, Hungary. He survived incarceration in Theresienstadt as a teenager. He donated a 20 Kronen note that he had kept from this time to the Museum’s Collection. When his granddaughter later discovered his donated object while working as an intern in the Collections & Exhibitions department in 2021, she chronicled it, and his story, in this blog post. He passed away on June 23, 2023. May his memory be a blessing.
